    To ensure your session is a great fit for HMC, consider the following:

    • Who will benefit from your panel or workshop?

    • Are your moderator and speakers confirmed?

    • Is your topic clear, actionable, and relevant to Houston’s music scene?

    • Do you have partners or collaborators contributing to your session?

    • What expertise or perspective do you and your speakers bring?

    • How does your session stand out and spark conversation?

    Session Details

    • Panels: up to 5 speakers, including 1 moderator

    • Session length: 30–90 minutes

    Types of Sessions:

    • Panel: Guided discussion on a focused topic with audience Q&A

    • Workshop / Masterclass: Hands-on advice, techniques, or insights from industry pros

    • Presentation / Demo: Showcasing tools, technology, or creative processes

    • Meetup / Networking: Small group gatherings designed to build connections and collaborations

    As a volunteer, you’ll commit to a minimum number of shifts and, in return, you’ll receive:

    HMC volunteers work across all areas of the festival & conference. We’re seeking enthusiastic, hardworking team members to help make this year’s event bigger, better, and more unforgettable than ever.

    Volunteer Positions

    Stage Managers
    Stage Managers work directly with HMC venues to ensure live shows and events run seamlessly. You’ll:

    • Communicate set times, set lengths, and interview schedules to artists

    • Coordinate with curators, venues, and production staff to maintain schedules

    • Be the go-to for resolving on-site questions or challenges

    On-Site Coordinators
    On-Site Coordinators support HMC staff across panels, shows, and events. Your responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring each event starts and ends on time

    • Keeping communication lines open between artists, staff, and venues

    • Problem-solving in real time to keep everything running smoothly

    Production Assistants
    Production Assistants help bring the conference to life behind the scenes. You’ll:

    • Assist with set-up and strike for events

    • Support all aspects of event production

    • Use tools like the HMC mobile app and FAQ sheets to answer attendee questions
